The only pageantry held in honour of 1916 women took place in Dublin on 27th. February 2016.
ON 27TH OF FEBRUARY, 2016, Diversity & Multicultural Initiative (DMI) ORGANISED A 1916 EVENT IN COMMEMORATION OF THE EASTER RISING, TAGGED "MISS CENTENARY IRELAND" to celebrate the women of 1916. Each contestant researched and presented papers on the women and their involvements during the Rising.
This epic event was 100% self-sponsored as DMI did not receive any grants whatsoever, but due to sheer determination by the founder Carol Azams, and a hunger to be part of something so special (The Centenary of Ireland), it still turned out so great and a lot was explored, experienced and shared about 1916 Easter Rising in Ireland.

Ms Annie Waithira - Overall Winner
It wasn't an issue of winner takes all, it was simply an opportunity for all involved to learn more about the history of the country we've all made our new home and share in that experience - something that will remain with us for life. Ms Annie Waithira, originally from Kenya, however won the title with her winning poem 'Dear Future Ireland'. She spent the next 12 months working on various projects alongside DMI founder, Mrs. Carol Azams. She was the national coordinator of Ireland's Festival of Nations 2016.
